Introduction

For some classes in Blackboard (Bb) Learn, instructors may require you to work with materials from publishers of your course's textbook using links that take you to webpages outside of the Blackboard Learn system which contain your course's textbook materials. To get to some of these materials, you may need to allow pop-up windows (also known as simply pop-ups) to show up on your computer. This article will cover how to block popups in Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. More specifically, this article will cover how to allow pop-ups altogether and how to allow pop-ups only for certain sites.

Note: You can download Mozilla Firefox from www.firefox.com and Google Chrome from www.google.com/chrome.

Please note that the bold text indicates text that you should see on your computer screen.

Allowing All Pop-Ups in Firefox

  2. In the side bar, click on the Options button. The Options tab will appear in your Firefox window.
  3. In the Options tab, in the pane on the left, click on Content.
  4. On the content page, uncheck the box that says Block pop-up windows.

From here, you should be able to open Blackboard and open any pop-up links that you need to open.
