How to Set Up Email on Your Android Device (For Students)

During a student's experience at Alcorn University, it can be quite convenient to have access to your Alcorn Email account's mail, contacts, and/or calendars. The following instructions will walk you through setting up your Alcorn Student Email on your Android phone/tablet. If you're both a student and a University employee, please read this article for instructions on setting up email on your Android device.


Please note that the words in bold are words you should see on your device's screen.

  1. On your Android device, open the Gmail app.
  2. Tap the menu button. A page will pop out from the left side.
  3. To the right of your email address, tap the tiny triangle. Your options will change below.
  4. Tap on Add account. The Set up email page will appear.
  5. On the Set up email page, tap on Google. This will bring you to the Add your account page.
  6. On the Add your account page, type your full Alcorn Student Email address, (e.g., or If you don't know your Alcorn Student Email address, click here to find out how to set up your Alcorn Student Email account.
  7. In the lower-right corner of the screen Tap NEXT >.
  8. On the next page that appears, you will see a message about your email being managed by In the lower right corner of the page, tap on ACCEPT >.
  9. On the Gold Services Credential System page, put in your Alcorn Email account's username and password and tap the Sign In button.

If you've followed all of these steps successfully, you should now see your Alcorn Email account in your list of email accounts in the Gmail app. Just tap on your Alcorn Email address in the list to see your email messages in your Alcorn Email account's inbox.
