Resetting Password for Alcorn Email and Blackboard (for Students)

  1. Go to the Alcorn webpage at www.alcorn.edu.
  2. In the black bar at the top of the page, move your mouse – but don’t click – onto the STUDENTS link. A little gray menu will show up below it.
  3. In that gray menu, click on BANNER ONLINE SERVICES.

  1. Here on the Banner Online services page, log in using your ASU ID number (also called your "A number") and six-digit PIN number. If you don't know your six-digit PIN number, please call the Registrar’s Office at 601-877-6170, making sure to tell them that “I would like to have my Banner PIN reset, please”. It will be reset to your six-digit date of birth (MMDDYY, for example, June 3, 1995 would be 060395).

  1. Next, on the main menu page, click on Personal Information.

  1. Now, click Activate your Email/Blackboard Account. The next page should greet the user by their first name. Click the Next button.

Note: If you see a “There was a problem with your account” error on your screen (see screenshot below for an example of the error), please call 601-877-CITS OR 1-855-671-6898 for assistance.

  1. The next page describes Alcorn State’s Appropriate Use Policy. Here, choose “I Accept”, then click the Continue button.
  2. On the next page, type a password of your choosing, and then click Next.
  3. On the next page, type the password a second time, then press Enter on the keyboard.
  4. Please print the next page, which contains your username and password, and keep for your records. Alternatively, you can write this information down and keep it somewhere safe.
  5. Now, close all browser windows; reopen your browser and go to the Alcorn web site at www.alcorn.edu. In the black bar at the top of the page, move your mouse over STUDENTS and in the gray menu that pops out, click on the BLACKBOARD LMS link.
  6. On the Blackboard Login page, click the Faculty & Students click HERE to Log In.

  1. On the next page, log in with the username and password you receieved in Step 10.
  2. If everything was done properly, then you should be able to log in to the Blackboard Learn system. If for some reason, you're still experiencing issues with logging in, please call 1-855-671-6898 for 24/7 Blackboard assistance.

Note: All temp accounts are prefixed with the word temp and an underscore (e.g., temp_john or temp_jwilliams).
