Setting Up Email on your iOS Device (for Students)

The below instructions will guide you through the process of setting up your Alcorn student email account on your iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) device.

Please note that the bold text indicates text that you will see on your screen.

Change Your Email Password

1. If you haven't already, register for your new, Google-enabled Alcorn email account at mail.alcorn.edu.

2. Log in to your Google-enabled Alcorn email account.

3. Click your email address which will be shown in the upper right area of the window.

4. Click on the Account link (not the Add Account button).

5. Click the Security link on the left side of the screen.

6. Next to Password management, click the Change password button.

7. Type your old password in the first text box and your new password in the next two text boxes and press Enter.



Add your Account to your iOS Device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch)

8. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, open the Settings.

9. On the Settings page, tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

10. Under Accounts, click Add Account.

11. For the type of account, choose a Microsoft Exchange account, not a GMail account.

12. On the Exchange page, enter the following values:

13. The page will take a few moments to try and connect to the server. It won't connect initially, and that's okay because it will then ask for the server. When it does, type m.google.com into the box for Server.

14. Tap the Next button.

15. Choose what you would like to synchronize with your phone (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc) and click the Save button.

16. From here on, you will be able to access your Google-enabled Alcorn email account from your iOS's Mail app.

After completing the steps, please note that some phones may experience numerous password prompts for the Alcorn email account. You can tap the Cancel button on any prompts that appear. After about 2 - 10 minutes, the email will begin to appear in the Inbox of the Gold Mail Account in your Mail app.
